Attractive Enemy

Do you ever see scary movie trailers on TV and wonder, “Who would pay money to go to a movie knowing they’re going to be scared out of their wits?” Soft orchestra music lures you in, and then suddenly the villain’s grotesque face appears on the screen, larger than life, and the audience recoils in shock and fear. Not my idea of enjoyable entertainment, though obviously popular with many.

Compassion: Pass it on

When God describes himself to Moses, the first attribute he mentions is compassion (Exodus 34:6). We read in the gospels that Jesus has compassion on the crowds, but what does that word really mean? The American Heritage Desk Dictionary gives this definition:

Deep awareness of the suffering of another.

Head Knowledge

It’s one of my pet peeves, and someone said it again. “You shouldn’t memorize for head knowledge but for heart knowledge.” Where are people coming up with this stuff? That’s totally unbiblical.
