Merry Christmas to all of you in our memorizing community. I am including Luke 1 and 2 from a recent speaking engagement. May the joy of Jesus be with you during this holy season.
Janet, I enjoyed this so much. Your voice is perfect for capturing the attention of your audience. And of course, the Word, which you were reciting was beautiful. Well done. How long did this one take to memorize? I hope you speak in North Carolina sometime. Would love to hear you and meet. Such a blessing. Thank you for this. I am praying for your son and all policemen. We are so thankful for the job they do. Merry Merry Christmas.
How precious is your word O God that has come and dwelt among us! Thank you Janet for leading our hearts toward worship this morning! How the Father must be smiling as His Word is treasured among His people. I read something this week in becoming a woman who loves God on purpose!! Seeking to know God’s heart in His word is His gift to us—thank you for leading us to the best gift . When people ask How Long did it take to memorize such lengthy passages I smile……..breathe in and breathe out …. Here a little, there a little. Focusing on God’s word with a purpose. I have been focusing in Hebrews since January, I don’t know how long it will take. I am just treasuring the journey and the stops along the way. Thank you for challenging me in this , I am studying God’s word from a totally different perspective…. slowing down to treasure every phrase “those tender mercies of our God” Luke 2:78. I prayed God’s tender mercies over someone this week! I remembered from your book how yousaid the Christmas story started way before Luke 2:8… Thank you , thank you for reminding us of that, God is still orchestrating the events in our lives through His Son! May we know His word so we know when He is speaking to our hearts to change
Janet, I knew I would be blessed to listen and I was! Your voice and mannerisms, and beautiful smile are captivating.
Thank you for your encouragement to us.
Christmas blessings to you and yours!
Amen. Beautiful. Glory to God.
We just read through these same scriptures during jail ministry on Sunday. What a joy that would have been had we all had it memorized. Maybe next Christmas… 🙂
Thank you for sharing this joyful recitation this morning Janet!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Could there BE a better incitation for people to get on it!
I hope this stirs the hearts of those who are on the fence, thinking they want to memorize—but can’t find the motivation. HERE IT IS PEOPLE!Â
What a treat from such a beautiful person—inside and out.
Janet, awesome! I fell in love with Luke 1, in working on it to recite at our church Christmas program. Saw so many things I had not noticed before. How tender and patient Gabriel was with Mary when she questioned ” how” and Zacharias was chastised for his questioning. Showing that to whom much is given, much is expected. I also loved how Luke gives an “orderly” account, from the very beginning of the chapter. He’s an excellent reporter. He tells what happened sprinkled with just the right amount of background. It also is teaching me that God doesn’t just throw things at us. He is a Preparer, and the ultimate Planner. This inspires me to slow and plan a bit, instead of the flying by the seat of my pants that I normally do. To not be discouraged if things don’t work according to my plan though. To always pray for, and yield to His plan. To live each day prepared for His coming again.
I grew up in a secular home—never went to church—not even one time. In college I began to read the Bible for myself. It was love-at-first-read, and I never got over it. The book-like-no-other connects me to the Author. It reveals his heart, his thoughts, and his ways. I can’t read his mind, but I can read his Book.
What a blessed way to begin the morning. Thank you so much for sharing this and for encouraging us to memorize the precious word of God.
Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
